PRODUCERS GUILD OF AMERICA AND ITALIAN PRODUCERS GUILD ANNOUNCE PATRNERSHIP TO FOSTER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE US AND ITALY

Warner Bros Studios, Burbank, CA June 7, 2014 The Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the Producers Guild of Italy (AGPCI) today signed a Memorandum of Agreement which will allow the two guilds to foster working relationships between US and Italian producers.

The PGA, through its International Committee, has a long standing program of reaching out to the global community to promote the important role of the producer in Film, Television and New Media. This agreement with the AGPCI further extends that program and connects our producing members with the vibrant and prolific Italian industry.

The Italian Guild continues to grow and connect their members through agreements such as this one with the PGA and their annual convention. This edition that event will take place in January 2015, in Tuscany.

Signing of the agreement in Los Angeles was Vance Van Petten, Executive Director of the PGA, and Martha Capello, President of AGPCI. Also attending were Bill Stuart and Stu Levy, co-chairs of the PGA International Committee.

Bill Stuart, who negotiated on behalf of the PGA, said “this is an exciting moment for both guilds as the tradition of Italian filmmaking is something that has inspired filmmakers throughout the world including Hollywood”.

Martha Capello stated “the Italian film industry has a lot to learn from the American producers, to export the Italian artistic talent in the world and to strengthen the film production’s industrial process. This Agreement between us and the PGA is the first step towards an ever increasing cooperation between Italy and USA. We will work towards expanding the amount of films made in associate productions between our two countries, even more so now that Italy can count upon strong fiscal incentives for the international productions.”

Vance Van Petten commented on the presence of the Italian representatives at the Produced By Conference saying “We look forward to a close working relationship and I hope we can reciprocate by having a delegation of our member producers attend the Italian event.

The partnership begins immediately and meetings for Ms. Capello with PGA producer members are already planned during the Produced By conference.
