Patrick Wilson cast in THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD

LOS ANGELES, CA, OCTOBER 31, 2013 – Atlas Independent, the affiliate company of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment, and Relativity International, the newly formed international division of Relativity Media—announced today Golden Globe® and Emmy nominee®, Patrick Wilson (Young Adult, Little Children, Angels in America), will star in THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD. Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego (Apollo 18, Open Grave) will direct the film based on rising screenwriter, Nils Lyew’s, script. William Green, Aaron Ginsburg, and Andy Horwitz of Atlas Independent will produce. MICA Entertainment is financing with Relativity International selling the picture overseas. The film is slated to being production in March of 2014.

Patrick Wilson was last seen reuniting with Rose Byrne in the box office hit Insidious Chapter 2 directed by James Wan. Prior to that, Wilson starred in The Conjuring, which became one of the top 5 highest grossing supernatural films of all time. Upcoming, Wilson can be seen alongside Liv Tyler in the film Space Station 76, a dramatic comedy that takes place in the 1970’s versions of the future where both personalities and asteroids collide. In the spring of 2014, he will star in the Joe Carnahan directed comedy-thriller Stretch alongside Chris Pine and Brooklyn Decker. Wilson just wrapped filming North of Hell starring Jordana Brewster and Katherine Heigl and Ward’s Wife alongside Amy Acker and Scott Foley.

“I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to direct such an amazing script with the perfect leading man in Patrick” said Lopez-Gallego.

THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD is the visceral story of a botched Mexican cartel deal in the back roads of a border town. The town's new sheriff (played by Wilson) must team up with the retired lawman he replaced to investigate the source of the deal in order to stop a mysterious cartel butcher and his systematic brutalization of the town's residents. A gritty and modern thriller, THE MAN ON CARRION ROAD collides head on with the pathos and hard realities that inhabit life along the border; it's a story that explores the ambitions, difficulties, and consequences that turn men into monsters and monsters into reality.

This is the second film of a two picture deal in which Atlas Independent will produce, MICA Entertainment will finance, and Relativity International will sell internationally. The first film in the deal is the recently wrapped MOJAVE, written and directed by William Monahan and starring Oscar Isaac and Garrett Hedlund.
