El Rey Network Partners With Austin Cinephiles

Austin, TX - Friday, August 29, 2014 - El Rey Network is excited to partner with two of Austin's most well-known cinephiles, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Programmer Greg MacLennan and Austin Film Society Programmer Lars Nilsen, to introduce viewers to some of their favorite and most-beloved films. Beginning this weekend, Greg and Lars will host movie screenings on El Rey Network. Audiences can tune in at 5:15PM on Saturday, August 30 for a screening of ELECTRA GLIDE IN BLUE hosted by Lars, and at 10PM for a screening of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 hosted by Greg. The two will continue to introduce and host movies on El Rey Network in the coming months, screening favorites such as ARMY OF DARKNESS, THE HARDER THEY COME, and DUEL.

About Greg MacLennan
After working at video stores and attending the University of Texas to study film production, Greg MacLennan used to write for several (now-defunct) websites and work on bad TV shows. He is currently a video editor for Drafthouse Films and film programmer at the Alamo Drafthouse, where he programs Cinema Cocktails, Bangarang!, ZZANG!!! and Tough Guy Cinema. Greg's ideal woman is a baked good and he is originally from Canada...but you shouldn't hold that against him.

About Lars Nilsen
Lars Nilsen is a film programmer and writer. He currently programs for the Austin Film Society. Previously he programmed for the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin from 2001 to 2013, first as the programmer/host of the Weird Wednesday series, showcasing a unique blend of obscure exploitation and oddball films. Later he became a fulltime member of the programming team and served as head programmer from 2007-2013. At Austin Film Society he works closely with Artistic Director Richard Linklater and staff to develop a whole range of film culture programs and screenings, drawing from Austin's particularly rich moviegoing heritage.
