LOS ANGELES, CA (January 6, 2016) – Emmy nominated actress Christina Hendricks has joined the cast of BAD SANTA 2 Miramax®and Broad Green Pictures announced today. Hendricks will play a new character, “Diane,” who runs a charitable organization.


Hendricks joins Golden Globe nominee Billy Bob Thornton (television series ”Fargo”, Sling Blade, Simple Plan, Bandits), who will reprise his signature role as “Willie Soke,” the character he made famous in the raucous comedy box office hit BAD SANTA (2003), and Oscar®, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Kathy Bates (MiseryTitanic, Dolores Claiborne) who will play Willie’s foulmouthed, tough-as-nails mom “Sunny.” Tony Cox and Brett Kelly from the original film will also return.


Mark Waters (Mean GirlsFreaky Friday) will direct from a screenplay by Johnny Rosenthal, Doug Ellin (“Entourage”) and Shauna Cross (If I Stay, Whip It). Geyer Kosinski (The Astronaut Farmer, The Bad News Bears, television series “Fargo”) and Andrew Gunn (Freaky Friday) will produce. BAD SANTA 2 will be executive produced by Miramax’s Zanne Devine and David Thwaites, Broad Green’s Gabriel and Daniel Hammond, Mark Waters, Jessica Tuchinsky, Adam Fields, and Doug Ellin. 


Miramax® and Broad Green Pictures are partnering to co-finance and co-produce BAD SANTA 2 with Broad Green handling U.S. theatrical distribution which is set for release November 23, 2016.


Principal photography will commence this month in Montréal, Québec, Canada.


Hendricks is currently filming the independent film POTTERSVILLE, an offbeat comedy about a small town that gets turned upside down when there is an alleged sighting of a creature. Hendricks plays “Connie” opposite Michael Shannon. The film also stars Rob Perlman, Judy Greer, Ian McShane and Thomas Lennon. Ron Perlman, Scott Lochmus and Jonathan Gray are producing with Seth Henrikson directing. Principal Photography is currently taking place in upstate NY.


She can soon be seen starring in the new drama series, “Hap and Leonard” for Sundance TV. “Hap and Leonard” will premiere on March 9th, 2016.
