NEW YORK (June 13, 2014) – Candescent Films has announced they will be sponsoring this year’s Audience Award of the 6th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) SummerDocs series presented by Alec Baldwin and Artistic Director David Nugent. SummerDocs has established itself as one of the best summer film series, bringing some of the greatest and most groundbreaking documentaries to the East Coast. The four-part series, taking place at Guild Hall, East Hampton, will kick off on Saturday, June 21st and will conclude on Friday, August 29th. As previously announced, Steve James’ Life Itself (6/21) and Al Hicks’ Keep On Keepin' On (7/25) will be the first two documentaries to screen in the series. Past SummerDocs selections have included Academy Award® winning and nominated films such as The Cove, How to Survive a Plague, Twenty Feet from Stardom, and Searching for Sugarman.

"SummerDocs is a terrific platform for filmmakers to share their documentaries and raise awareness for the subjects addressed in their films,” says Lilly Hartley, founder of Candescent Films. "I have attended since its inception, and am thrilled that Candescent is now involved in supporting this wonderful program. I’m looking forward to this summer’s series and the dynamic and intelligent conversations that will follow the screenings.”

"We are very proud of our SummerDocs series which has grown into such a wonderful place for documentary filmmakers to come and share their films and we are delighted to partner with Candescent Films on this year's audience award," says Hamptons International Film Festival executive director Anne Chaisson. "We are looking forward to working closely together on this collaboration to bring the world's most important stories to our east end audiences."

About the Hamptons International Film Festival
The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) is a year-round 501(c)3 non-profit organization with events, screenings, film workshops, comprehensive summer programs and an annual film festival each October. The Festival is the premiere film event on New York State's east end, and is an intimate showcase of some of the year's best offerings in contemporary cinema from around the world. With cash and in-kind prizes handed out totaling more than $190,000, HIFF continues to attract some of the best films of the year. Selections from all of our programs continue to play an important role during awards season. 2013 marked the 5th time in the last 6 years that a film at the Festival has become the eventual Best Picture winner at the Oscars, making HIFF the only Festival on the East Coast with such a distinction. In those 6 years, films screened in the festival have received 150 Oscar nominations.
