When teenager Ren and his family move from Chicago to a small town in the West where dancing and music are banned, he experiences culture shock. However, he soon falls for Ariel, a beautiful girl with a jealous boyfriend and a Bible-thumping minister as her father. With prom coming up, Ren decides to challenge the dance and music ban and revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople.
