?

CAN YOU CRACK THE CODE AND HELP WIN THE WAR?

WEINSTEIN COMPANY USHERS IN THE IMITATION GAME WITH

REPRINT OF FAMED 1942 CROSSWORD

November 25, 2014 (New York, NY) - The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced today that, in celebration of THE IMITATION GAME, they will be reprinting the Daily Telegraph crossword puzzle featured in the film in this Thursday's New York Times. The puzzle was originally published in January 1942 and was used by Alan Turing and his team at Bletchley Park to recruit codebreakers for the war effort. The rare, talented individuals who could solve the crossword in twelve minutes or less became candidates to join British Intelligence in helping to break through the Nazi's Enigma Machine.

Entrants who solve the puzzle can mail in their results for a chance to win a trip for two to London and a tour of the infamous Bletchley Park facilities where Turing and the Hut 8 team worked to help end WWII. The contest will run from November 27th to December 4th. THE IMITATION GAME opens in theaters on November 28th.

Commented TWC Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein: "We wanted to come up with a unique way to pay tribute to the great minds that broke the Enigma Code during WWII. I personally tried to do the puzzle and quickly realized that the only game I could ever have played with Alan Turing, without embarrassing myself, was checkers."

During the winter of 1952, British authorities entered the home of mathematician, cryptanalyst and war hero Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) to investigate a reported burglary. They instead ended up arresting Turing himself on charges of 'gross indecency', an accusation that would lead to his devastating conviction for the criminal offense of homosexuality - little did officials know, they were actually incriminating the pioneer of modern-day computing. Famously leading a motley group of scholars, linguists, chess champions and intelligence officers, he was credited with cracking the so-called unbreakable codes of Germany's World War II Enigma machine. An intense and haunting portrayal of a brilliant, complicated man, THE IMITATION GAME follows a genius who under nail-biting pressure helped to shorten the war and, in turn, save thousands of lives.
