(Beverly Hills, May 4, 2016) -- Hollywood celebrated the best in motion picture marketing at the 17th Annual Golden Trailer Awards tonight in Beverly Hills.  More than 1,100 studio marketing executives, movie fans, celebrities and trailer editors were on hand as Open Road Films and InSync + BeemisBalkind’s work for Spotlight titled “Answers” won the Best of Show Prize and the top honor for Best Independent Trailer.

While the Golden Trailer Awards bestows trophies in 92 different categories (full list below), only 16 were handed out live before a sold-out crowd at the Saban Theater.

Warner Bros. (along with New Line Cinema) was the big winner of the night taking home 11 Golden Trailer Awards overall. Fox and Disney each won a total of 10 statues while Universal took home 9 and Lionsgate earned 8.  Top creative vendors in the 2016 race included LA, whose print campaigns and posters were honored in 9 different categories. Best trailer vendors for 2016 included Create Advertising Group and Mark Woolen & Associates, each of whom won 5 GTAs. Aspect, AV Squad, Buddha Jones, Trailer Park and Zealot took home 4 trophies a piece.

The Jungle Book was the top GTA winner of the night by film winning awards in a total of 4 categories.

Wayne Brady served as host and master of ceremonies of the fun and spirited show while celebrity presenters included Ed Asner, David Koechner (Anchorman, “The Office”), David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man), Heather McDonald, Nichole Bloom (“Superstore”), Los Angeles Clippers’ Wes Johnson, and Tito Ortiz, among others. Celebrity and industry judges participating in this year's ceremony included Tom Hooper, Academy Award-winning director of The King Speech and The Danish Girl, Tim Miller, director of the blockbuster DeadpoolSeth Gordon, Academy Award Winner and director of films such as Horrible Bosses, Mary Jo Markey, Academy Award nominated editor, Maryann Brandon, editor of Star Wars: The Force AwakensAlisa Lepselter, editor on 18 Woody Allen films, Michael Miller, director of Poverty Inc.Linda Kaplan Thaler (Advertising Hall of Fame honoree), Khandi Alexander (Actress “CSI: Miami,” “Treme,” “The Newsroom,”), Molly Tarlov (MTV's “Awkward”), and Victoria Alonso, Executive Vice President of Physical Production for Marvel Studios.

The Golden Trailer Awards were launched in 1999 by Evelyn Watters and Monica Brady as a way to recognize the best of the best in worldwide motion picture and television marketing. The event has become one of the most anticipated award shows of the year.

“The Golden Trailer Awards recognizes the best and brightest in the fascinating world of movie trailers.  The media and marketing landscape for motion pictures in today’s digital world has become incredibly complex, yet trailers remain the single most important tool to open a movie, as they have since the 1960s when trailers first emerged as an art form,” said GTA Founder Evelyn Watters.  “One night per year, the tireless efforts and innovations of the artists who cut these two minutes of movie magic are recognized for their craft.  We couldn’t prouder of tonight’s nominees and winners.”

Added executive producer Monica Brady, “'The show and Wayne Brady were such high energy and so fun... and so short, it was like a great trailer and the audience was left wanting more'.”
