SHEILA VAND TO JOIN THE UNTITLED TINA FEY - MARGOT ROBBIE - MARTIN FREEMAN PROJECT

Sheila Vand joins The Untitled Tina Fey - Margot Robbie - Martin Freeman Project

Vand is set to co-star opposite Tina Fey, Margot Robbie and Martin Freeman in the Robert Carlock script. The film, adapted from the book by Kim Barker The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, is based on Barker’s (Fey) memoir of her experiences as a war correspondent in the early days of the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Vand will play, Shakira Khar, a reporter who works alongside Kim (Fey) and Tanya (Robbie), forming a close bond with the two as they navigate the male-dominated world of journalism in Afghanistan.

The film, directed by the team of John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (Crazy, Stupid, Love and Focus), is produced by Paramount Pictures in association with Little Stranger, Fey’s production company, and executively produced by Michaels-Goldwyn.  Production commenced in early February 2015 in New Mexico.

Most commonly recognized for her pivotal role as Sahar, the Iranian housekeeper in the Academy Award winning film, Argo, Vand can currently be seen in the black and white, vampire, western in Farsi, “A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night,” where she plays “The Girl”.  The film, directed by Ana Lily Amirpour and produced by SpectreVision, Elijah Wood’s production company, was nominated for a 2014 Independent Spirit Award in the category of “Best First Feature”.  Vand also recently wrapped production on the first season of NBC’s high octane drama “State of Affairs” playing CIA Analyst, Maureen James.
