SABAN FILMS ANNOUNCES EARLY 2016 THEATRICAL AND PREMIUM VOD RELEASES


 

LOS ANGELES – December 17, 2015 – Saban Films, the feature film domestic distribution company that launched in 2014, announced today the 2016 first quarter slate of theatrical and premium VOD release dates. Early next year’s titles are: Stand Off starring Laurence Fishburne and Thomas Jane, Backtrack starring Adrien Brody and Sam Neil, and Academy Award® Nominee Bob Nelson’s directorial debut,The Confirmation, starring Clive Owen, Maria Bello, Patton Oswalt, and Jaeden Lieberher. The following theatrical and VOD release dates are confirmed:

 

STAND OFF (February 26th): Written and directed by Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left, Home) the film stars Laurence Fishburne (Batman V Superman: Dawn of JusticeContagion, Mystic River, The Matrix franchise) and Thomas Jane (“Hung,” The Mist). Carter (Thomas Jane) is a troubled veteran who gets a chance at redemption by protecting a 12 year-old girl from a vicious assassin (Laurence Fishburne) after she witnesses a murder. Holding a shotgun with a single shell, he engages in physical and psychological warfare in a desperate fight for the girl's life.

 

BACKTRACK (March 11th): Written and directed by Michael Petroni (The Book Thief, The Rite), the film stars Academy Award® winner Adrien Brody (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Pianist), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, The Vow) and Robin McLeavy (The Loved Ones, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). In Backtrack, troubled psychotherapist Peter Bowers (Adrien Brody) is suffering from nightmares and eerie visions. When he uncovers the horrifying secret shared by his patients, he is put on a course that takes him back to the remote hometown he fled years ago. There in False Creek he is consumed by solving a decades-old mystery that holds the key to his strange and menacing delusions.

 

THE CONFIRMATION (March 18th): ?Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Bob Nelson (Nebraska), the film stars Clive Owen (Children of Men, Inside Man), Maria Bello (PrisonersMcFarland, USA, Grown Ups 2), Patton Oswalt (“The Knick”, Young Adult), and Jaeden Lieberher (Aloha, St. Vincent). Eight year old Anthony is somewhat uneasy about spending the weekend with his alcoholic, down-on-his-luck carpenter dad Walk. Walt is just as uneasy about spending time with Anthony, especially since their first day together is a series of characteristically unfortunate events. As the weekend sets out, Walt and Anthony begin to discover a true connection with each other, causing Walt to become a better father and Anthony to reveal the promise and potential of the good man he will become.

 

Upcoming titles, to be dated, in the Saban Films slate are: Tom Tykwer’s A Hologram for the King starring two-time Academy Award® winner Tom Hanks, where Saban will partner with Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions on the theatrical release; Alex and Ben Brewer’s The Trust starring Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood; I Am Wrath with John Travolta; and USS Indianapolis starring Nicolas Cage.
