RELATIVITY STUDIOS IN FINAL NEGOTIATIONS TO ACQUIRE RIC ROMAN WAUGH’S THRILLER SHOT CALLER FOR US DISTRIBUTION


 

Sierra/Affinity to Introduce Film to Buyers at the Upcoming Cannes Market

 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been cast as the lead in the film

 

LOS ANGELES, CA – (April 24, 2015) – Bold Films today announced that Ric Roman Waugh’s SHOT CALLER, is in final negotiations to be acquired by Relativity Studios for US Domestic distribution.  The film will be sold internationally by Sierra/Affinity who will introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming Cannes market.  WME and Miles Mogulescu handled the negotiations for Bold. 

 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been cast as the lead in SHOT CALLER.  The thriller follows a newly released prison gangster who is forced by the leaders of his gang to orchestrate a major crime with a brutal rival gang on the streets of Southern California.  Additional casting is underway.

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh (SNITCH, THAT WHICH I LOVE DESTROYS ME) from his script, SHOT CALLER will be produced by Bold’s Michel Litvak and Matthew Rhodes along with Waugh and Participant Media’s Jonathan King who developed the project.  Bold’s Gary Michael Walters will executive produce with Participant’s Jeff Skoll.  The film will be fully financed by Bold Films.  The film will start production on May 26 in New Mexico and be overseen by Bold’s Lisa Zambri. 

 

Coster-Waldau stars as "Jamie Lannister" on HBO's megahit drama, GAME OF THRONES, which returned to record ratings on Sunday night.  He recently starred in Susanne Bier’s A SECOND CHANCE, which premiered at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival, and up next he stars in Summit Entertainment's GODS OF EGYPT, set for a February 2016 release.  He is represented by Impression Entertainment and WME.

In 2015, Bold Films most recently had Ryan Gosling’s LOST RIVER which was released by Warner Bros. on April 10.  Bold Film’s third collaboration with Gosling, LOST RIVER marks his debut as a writer and director.  The film stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes and had its US Premiere at SXSW.  Later in the year, NO ESCAPE, starring Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell will be released by The Weinstein Company on September 2.  The action thriller was written by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle and directed by John Erick Dowdle.  

 

In television, Bold Films is currently in production on the 2nd season of the hit series “Dominion” which airs on SyFy.
