JONATHAN NOSSITER'S NATURAL RESISTANCE MAKES STREAMING DEBUT EXCLUSIVELY ON SUNDANCENOW DOC CLUB AS PART OF ITS "WINE & SPIRITS" COLLECTION

Doc Club Will Kick Off Collection With Special Event Featuring: Wine Tasting, Panel Discussion and Screening

New York, NY (October 19, 2015) - SundanceNow Doc Club, the advertising-free boutique SVOD service dedicated solely to documentaries, announced today that Jonathan Nossiter's documentary NATURAL RESISTANCE will make its streaming debut exclusively on DocClub.com on Tuesday, October 27, as part of the service's "Wine & Spirits" collection.

On Wednesday, October 28, Doc Club will host a special screening of NATURAL RESISTANCE in Brooklyn, NY, accompanied by a panel discussion on natural wine as well as a wine tasting. Press invitations to follow.

In addition to NATURAL RESISTANCE, which had a limited theatrical run in May 2015, the collection will feature Nossiter's little-seen, epic ten-part docuseries MONDOVINO, which has never before aired on U.S. television, as well as HEY BARTENDER and RED OBSESSION. Full descriptions of the films can be found below.

Thom Powers, resident curator of Doc Club, says, "Jonathan Nossiter brings poeticism and activism together in NATURAL RESISTANCE, his follow-up to the acclaimed series MONDOVINO. Through the lens of wine, Jonathan deftly explores larger notions of globalization and industrial farming. We're proud to have the documentary making its streaming debut on Doc Club."

NATURAL RESISTANCE (2015)*
Ten years after his acclaimed winemaking documentary MONDOVINO, Nossiter's new film looks at the Italian vanguard of a rapidly spreading European natural wine revolution-from a couple growing grains and fruit that harken back to the ancient Etruscans, to farmer-poet Stefano Bellotti, the Pasolini of Italian agriculture, whose radical farm in the Piedmont upends the established rules of agriculture.

MONDOVINO (2006)
Epic in scope, this multi-generation, globe-trotting saga covers not only the entire gamut of wine making, but wine's place in a treacherously globalized and hyper-marketed world. From the billionaire power brokers of Napa Valley, to the aristocratic rivalries of competing Florentine dynasties, to the efforts of three generations of a Burgundian family fighting to preserve their few acres of land, Jonathan Nossiter's MONDOVINO brings to life the human drama (and comedy) of wine making. Shot over several years and in five different languages, the series features numerous intimate encounters with the wine world's most iconic and controversial figures.

RED OBSESSION (2013)
Narrated by Russell Crowe, this film from David Roach and Warick Ross takes viewers on an extraordinary journey from Bordeaux to Beijing, from the passion and art of the vineyard to the notorious counterfeit wine markets of the Far East and into the homes of billionaire collectors. RED OBSESSION explores the unlikely love affair between the traditional West and the seductive but unpredictable East. The demand is unprecedented, but the product is finite and this new client wants it all. Will the China market be the bubble that never bursts or the biggest threat yet to Bordeaux's centuries old reputation?

HEY BARTENDER (2013)
Douglas Tirola's documentary focuses on two bartenders trying to achieve their dreams through the world of bartending. After being injured a Marine turns his goals to becoming a rock star bartender at the best cocktail bar in the world. A former bank executive who bought the corner bar in his hometown struggles to keep it afloat in a community that no longer values a place where everyone knows your name. Featuring the most famous bartenders in the world along with unprecedented access to the most exclusive bars in New York City and commentary from Graydon Carter, Danny Meyer and Amy Sacco.
