MATT ALVAREZ NAMED PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION

AT BROAD GREEN PICTURES

LOS ANGELES (May 5, 2016) – Broad Green Pictures has named Matt Alvarez president of production, it was announced today. Alvarez will be responsible for identifying new projects and overseeing Broad Green’s slate of films, managing the process from development to final delivery. He will continue his role as producer on films he has in active development at the studio.

The appointment of Alvarez underscores the studio’s focus on financing, producing and distributing larger-budget commercial movies for broad audiences. Victor Moyers, President of Physical Production, will focus on ensuring that the ambitious production slate is executed.  Chief Creative Officer Daniel Hammond will expand his overall management role within the company, with Alvarez handling the day-to-day management of the development and production team, a task Hammond and Moyers formerly handled. Marc Danon will continue as president, acquisitions and co-productions.

Last year Broad Green announced an exclusive pact with Alvarez that brought him in-house to produce. To-date the team has announced two projects: Ain’t No Half Steppin, an upbeat comedy announced by the studio late last year and currently in pre-production with physical production beginning in June, and The Fight Before Christmas, a comedic holiday pitch from Daddy’s Home writer Brian Burns.

Alvarez has a rich history of producing box office successes including the Friday, Barbershop, Are We There Yet? and Ride Along franchises, as well as Straight Outta ComptonAll About the Benjamins and First Sunday. Alvarez’s theatrical worldwide revenues total more than $1 billion.

“With Matt’s extraordinary track record of success and excellent leadership skills, we are confident that he has the experience and commitment to lead the team as we expand into greater original production efforts,” said Broad Green Pictures CEO Gabriel Hammond.

“This is an exciting time for Broad Green and I could not pass up the opportunity to lead the smart and talented production team into this next ambitious chapter,” says Alvarez.

Broad Green’s upcoming releases include The Infiltrator, starring Bryan Cranston, Diane Kruger, John Leguizamo, and Benjamin Bratt, in theatres nationwide July 13; and Bad Santa 2, a co-production with Miramax, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Kathy Bates and Christina Hendricks, in theatres nationwide November 23.

Jordan attached to star, Destin Daniel Cretton set to Direct and Gil Netter producing; Entering Hades, a project being produced by Storyscape Entertainment and Michael Fassbender’s DMC Films, with Fassbender eyed to star; and ‘Wish Upon’ written by Barbara Marshall and voted to the notable 2015 Black List.
