IMAX posted an estimated $3.1M in Thursday previews, a Marvel record besting Avengers: Age of Ultron’s $3M.

 

 

International

 

"Captain America: Civil War" opened in Argentina yesterday, grossing an estimated $0.7M, +13% ahead of the opening day of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" in admissions. It also opened yesterday in Russia, grossing $2.0M, around -21% behind the opening day of Avengers: Age of Ultron and 175% ahead of the opening day of Captain America: Winter Soldier, with an 86% market share. The New Zealand opening yesterday came in at an estimated $0.5M, just ahead of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the UAE posted the largest opening day in industry history.

 

Yesterday also saw some holidays around the international landscape, most notably Children’s Day in Korea and Ascension holiday in some other markets, leading to a strong Thursday gross which was 17% of the weekend.
